It fits!

Deck #1 is ready, and has already been tried onto hull #1. Apart from looking great, it fits perfectly. One more testament to the wonders of 3D design. Another relief is to be able to actually walk into the interior of the boat and get a “real” feel for the fabulous space available. The FG43 with its deck on definitely feels much more spacious than the FG41 inside, and almost as airy as the significantly bigger FG46. Computer modelling is a great design tool, but in some areas experience and gut feeling need to be the drivers for decisions regarding usage of space and ergonomics. Having the deck on finalizes all the uncertain areas I myself had about certain nooks and crannies of the interior – namely the aft heads and the entrance to the port aft cabin – both of which turned out great despite looking a little tight on the original designs and in the 3D model. The only amendment to the original plan that we have been forced to make so far regarding boat #1 is to abandon the original client request for painting deck #1 metallic black for the time. We will finish the boat with a white deck and return to the painting issue this fall. Anders Kurtén
